Rudrama Devi Mahila Mandali

Rudrama Devi Mahila Mandali(RDMM) was established in 2003 as are sponse to the wide spread stigma, abuse, and violence faced by Women in Sex Work(WSW) in Warangal, Telangana. The idea for RDMM emerged when nearly 1,000 Women in Sex Work from 7 Mandalsin Warangal came together, determined to confrom the stigma that had marginalized them and to address the severe violence and discrimination experienced by their community.

Sex work in India is highly stigmatized, leading to the routine abuse of women in sex work by various sectors of society. This abuse takes many forms, including harassment and extortion by the police, abuse and exploitation by clients and agents, violence from intimate partners, and hostility from public authorities and local residents.WSWs are often denied basic human rights and face significant barriers in accessing healthcare, making them more vulnerable to sexually transmitted infections(STIs)and HIV.
